Objectives/Theme:
The Teaching of History Conference is intended primarily for those who teach at the survey level in college and in grades four through twelve. Speakers will emphasize course content, but they will also provide bibliographies of the most important studies relative to their topics and offer suggestions concerning teaching methods. Thus the
conference's objective is to offer a day of informative and
stimulating presentations and thereby aid in improving the teaching
of history. The theme of the 2003 conference, "Leaders of the Twentieth Century," provides an opportunity to hear outstanding scholars discuss the lives and careers of major leaders of twentieth-century Texas, the United States, and the World.
Accreditation:
Continuing Education Units (0.5 CEUs) are available on an optional basis from the University of North Texas Center of Continuing Education and Conference Management for satisfactory completion of the Teaching of History Conference. Those who wish to earn CEUs will have a signature sheet in their registration packets that must be signed at the conclusion of each session they attend. These sheets, signed by the person who presides at the sessions attended, must be returned to the registration table at the close of the conference.Certificates of Attendance will be provided for teachers from school
districts that require professional development hours. These
certificates may be picked up at the registration table at the close of
the conference.
