! ! ! First Assignment – Introductory E-Mail ! ! !

Assignment. (This is required even if you did the same thing last semester!) Send a simple, get-acquainted e-mail message from your own TCU e-mail account to Bob Neilson (R.Neilson@tcu.edu). Messages sent from other accounts (e.g., your roommate's, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) will not be accepted! The message must contain the following information:

  • Name: last, first, initial
  • Preferred name or nickname
  • Hometown, state (or country) -- if DFW area, include name of HS
  • Number of year(s) at TCU (1, 2, 3, etc.)
  • Prior chemistry courses (e.g., 1 semester at TCU, 1 or 2 years HS, etc.)
  • Academic major (or possible major)
  • At least one unique talent, achievement, or interest of which you are most proud and/or that you most enjoy
  • Reason(s) for taking this course
  • Any other comments, questions, or suggestions that you may have

Deadline. Your message must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, January 23. I will reply to all messages. If you do not receive a reply within a few days, do not assume that I got your message. Find out what went wrong!

Reward. Completion of this simple assignment by the deadline is worth one extra point on each of the five hour exams. Note that this is the same as adding one point to your exam average and that is how I will figure it.

Penalty. Failure to complete this assignment by the deadline will result in a deduction of five points from every exam until it is completed.
