Students learn when they are engaged in the process. My students learn photography by photographing the subjects that interested them most. I give assignments that are open ended and allow the student to learn the expressive qualities of the medium. Including the technical (craft ) issues of light, exposure, depth of field, position of the camera, film development, film choice, paper choice, print quality, size and presentation. The critiques, held once a week allow the student to look at photographs with a critical eye.
