Final Exam (TBD)

The lowest quiz and homework grade for each person will be dropped.   There will be homework due every Thursday and a quiz every Tuesday (except for test weeks).  The homeworks and quizzes will NOT all be the same length or same level of difficulty!

Exams will be held in class.  Exam #1 is on September 24 (Thursday), Exam #2 on October 29 (Thursday), and Exam #3 on December 8 (Tuesday).  The Final is on Dec. 16 (above).  The exams are partial, the final is cumulative.

Policies:

Late Homeworks:  Homeworks are due on Thursdays by 1:50 pm (the end of class).   Up to 24 hours late = 20% off.  24-48 hours late = 40% off.  48-72 hours late = 60% off, etc.  The only exceptions are approved absences as described below; you must have an excuse that specifically states how many days you were incapable of doing homework!  If you are absent from class you are still responsible for handing in the homework by 1:50 pm and getting the assignment for the following week.

Homework Rules: Homeworks must be handwritten in your own writing.  You must do the problems yourself!  The solution manual (available in the bookstore) contains the answers to many of the problems, and you may consult it to check your work after you have done (or attempted) the problem yourself. Note that the solution manual contains many errors—you should not rely on it for answers, especially if you don’t understand/agree with them.  If your homework contains exactly the same errors as the solution manual, I will grade it quite severely.  You are welcome to form study groups, but you are responsible for ensuring that you have personally done all problems of your own homework assignments.

Class Attendance/Quizzes:  The only excuses for missing lecture are: 1. Official University Absence as indicated by the University; 2. a written medical excuse from a physician including the physician's name and the nature of the illness, or 3. a written notice from the Dean of Students Office about a major personal problem such as a death in the family.  If you miss a quiz or exam, you will only be allowed to take a makeup quiz if you give me the appropriate written excuse.   Please notify me of your excused absence IN ADVANCE if you know it will be needed.

It's common to have "understandable" absences (random car trouble, alarm not going off, etc etc) during the semester--this is the reason you are allowed to drop one quiz and two homeworks. "Understandable" absences, though, are not "excused" absences.

Academic Dishonesty:  Intolerable and will be prosecuted to the full extent allowed by University Regulations.

Disabilities Statement: Texas Christian University complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 regarding students with disabilities.  If you require accommodations for a disability, please contact the Coordinator for Students with Disabilities in the Center for Academic Services, located in Sadler Hall 11, or at 817-257-7486.

Adequate time must be allowed to arrange accommodations and accommodations are not retroactive; therefore, students should contact the Coordinator as soon as possible in the academic term for which they are seeking accommodations.  Each eligible student is responsible for presenting relevant, verifiable, professional documentation and/or assessment reports to the Coordinator.  Guidelines for documentation may be found at http://www.acs.tcu.edu/Disability.htm.

Students with emergency medical information or needing special arrangements in case a building must be evacuated should discuss this information with their instructor/professor as soon as possible.
