• Does Anybody Have a Problem With That?

  • This is a series of excerpts from Bill's show "Politically Incorrect". PI is a show kind of like Mystery Science Theater 3000. It has a lot of fanatically devoted fans, but most people who watch it have to be kind of "in the mood" to enjoy it. So while this book is humorous, it only made me laugh out loud maybe 2 or 3 times (unlike about 10-15 times for Dennis Miller's book and twice that for Jerry Seinfeld's book, but tastes in humor vary a lot). A real weakness is the unfortunate tendency of this book to focus exclusively on Bill's material instead of quotes from the panelists.

    I mean, that's the real reason I enjoy watching the show, to see people I like in a political setting, talking about things completely separate from their profession and often providing interesting (if silly) viewpoints on current affairs. Maybe 3% of the text in this book is from guests. The rest is just not worth the big sticker price (even in paperback). If you find it in the bookstore, just flip to the highlights (the "Real State of the Union" and a few of the "Modest Proposal" sections) to pass the time.
