Overbye, Dennis
- Lonely Hearts of the Cosmos
- One of the dumbest titles I've ever heard for a book turns
out to be one of the best books on Astronomical history I've
ever read. This book follows the development of Astronomical
ideas and Astronomers themselves (with particular attention paid
to Allan Sandage) over the past 50 years (roughly since the
death of Edwin Hubble). It's quite long and a little bit dated
now (the story ends in the late 80's), but I enjoyed it. Found
the oversized paperback at a bargain bookstore for only 5 bucks.
I probably wouldn't pay the $13 cover price for this one.
