Dyson, Freeman
- Infinite in All Directions
- One of the best science writers for the lay person and
the scientist of this generation is Freeman Dyson. This man
has a string of scientific papers on a broad variety of topics,
and he always seems to be speculating about ideas that are
more profound than most science fiction I read. But he does
so with the backing of rigorous analytical thinking and a
very worldly view. In this book, Dyson writes a series of
essays (in the fashion of the more widely published S. J. Gould)
on topics stretching from the fabric of the Universe to the
politics of nuclear weapons. Readers of popular science
literature will probably find his writing a bit more approachable
than Gould's, but both are excellent. If you like one set of
essays, you'll like the rest.
