Will, George
- Men At Work
- The popular conservative columnist/pundit turns out to be
a tremendous fan of baseball, and it really shows as he
explores his love of the game and interviews a variety of
baseball people to try to reveal to the reader and casual fan
of the intricacies that pervade what you may accept as a simple,
easy game played on a Sunday afternoon. At times, Will's
haughty tone strikes the absolutely perfect balance of wit
and seriousness required of the true baseball fan. It's a
good book from an objective point of view (as opposed to many
baseball books, which simply span a given player's career),
and it compares favorably to Feinstein's "Play Ball" (also
reviewed in these pages), though Will's book is less about
the politics of baseball and more about the playing of baseball.
