  • Now here is a story to be loved and appreciated by fans of old-style and new-style science fiction...the development of a civilization on the surface of a neutron star. Because the civilization is based upon nuclear rather than molecular chemistry, everything moves thousands of times faster. By the time humans arrive to survey the star, the new race is about ready to communicate. A few hours later...wow! Though the beginning drags just a bit, the book was really enjoyable. Left me in a very weird state of mind afterwards, as if everything around me were moving too slowly!
