- The Entropy Effect (7 r)
- One of the few Star Trek novelizations I've ever read, this
one is one of the best. If you like Trek stuff, you should read
this book. This one involves the death of a major character, time
travel and some nasty bullets. More than that would be giving it
away. If you know the general flavor of Trek books, you'll know what
to expect. I keep intending to read her other stuff, but I
haven't yet. Maybe my next big book run, I'll get Dreamsnake.
- The Crystal Star (4)
- A disappointing installment in the ongoing Bantam Spectra
Star Wars series. In short, the royal children get kidnapped
(surprise!), everyone goes off in three different directions
only to find themselves reunited at the end (surprise!) to fight
perhaps the least threatening Empire remnant we've yet seen.
Nevertheless, some of the characterization is quite good, and
the Waru creature (one of the most ominous characters in the book)
provides some real tension. A true Star Wars fan like me can always
find the silver lining, I guess. I've written a
full-length review of this book for rec.arts.sf.reviews,
if you're interested.
