Through an analysis of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and lyrics from 2000 to 2015, there has been a great return of information that could prove useful for a number of artists. By breaking the top 100 lyrics up into segmented topics such as common topics, genders, vulgarities, and senses, I have discovered what may be necessary to have a successful song. After looking at the common topics, it was unsurprising to find out that "love" was mentioned over 4000 times within the Kaggle dataset. In terms of genders, women are sung about more often than men making women-centric songs more successful than men-centric songs. When looking into vulgarities, the terms "shit", "fuck", "ass" and "bitch" are sung almost equally with "shit" being mentioned a little more than the others. Lastly, when looking at the senses, "see" was the most commonly used term within the lyrics .
