Rice, Anne
- Series: The Vampire Chronicles
- Interview with the Vampire (8 r)
- The Vampire Lestat (7 r)
- Queen of the Damned (6 r)
- The Mummy (6 r)
- The first two books of this famous series are truly
wonderful. Gothic romance combined with an interesting
look into the nuts and bolts of life as a vampire. Rice
has a unique and very interesting writing style that makes
these books worth a look. The later books start to broaden
the picture somewhat into a grand history of vampirism, and
the increased scope makes the books suffer. Buy the first
two, and if you like them, buy one more at a time until
it starts to wear.
- The Feast of All Saints (5 r)
- Readable but slow-moving story of a young "quadroon" (mixed
race...half-colored mother, white father) who almost passes for
white in 19th century New Orleans. The book is worth reading more
for the historical picture of life in New Orleans than for the plot.
