Turow, Scott
- The Burden of Proof (6 r)
- This book came out right after Turow's success with the movie
"Presumed Innocent". It is a passable book about a lawyer who
starts looking into the mysterious circumstances surrounding his
wife's apparent suicide. If you like legal thrillers, like
Grisham's stuff, you should like this one all right.
- Pleading Guilty (5 r)
- Another legal/mystery book, this one in the form of a dictated
autobiography of the detective in the case, a down-and-out drunk
lawyer, sent on a mission by his firm to restore his good standing
by using his beat-cop background to track down a missing partner
and a few million dollars. Starts off very slowly, but picks up
a bit near the end. The problem is, it didn't hold my interest
enough at the beginning for me to keep track of all the characters,
and by the end, when the plot threads were all being diligently
unraveled for all to see, I was still a bit confused. Like his
other book I've read, it qualifies as readable pulp.
