At TCU I teach courses in Geographic Information Systems, data analysis and visualization with Python, and urban studies. Course materials for recent offerings are published openly.

GEOG 30323: Data Analysis & Visualization (Fall 2026)

An introduction to the data analysis process in Python: acquiring data from databases and the web, cleaning and reshaping it, exploratory analysis, and static and interactive visualization. GEOG 40323: Urban and Business Applications of GIS (Spring)

Applied GIS for urban analysis, site selection, and market analysis, with a project-based structure.

Workshops

Beyond TCU, I regularly teach workshops on US Census data analysis and spatial data science in R and Python, including a multi-year series for the University of Michigan’s Social Science Data Analysis Network and invited sessions for Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Posit, the US Census Bureau, the University of Washington Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Urban Spatial Analytics program.
